Community Outreach & Engagement
Your Granby Police Department is more than law enforcement - we are your neighbors. Through partnerships, education, and everyday presence, we work together to build a safer, stronger community.
HOW WE SERVE THE COMMUNITY
From the classroom to community events, Granby officers are proud to show up where it matters most.
School Resource Officer
Our dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) works alongside students, teachers, and staff — building trust, resolving conflicts, and fostering a safe learning environment every day.
Annual Bike Parade
Every year, our officers join the community for the beloved Granby Bike
Parade — celebrating neighbors of all ages while promoting bicycle
safety and positive police-community
relationships.
Reading at the Library
Granby officers visit the local library on Wednesdays to read to children, nurturing a love of learning while showing young community members that police officers are approachable, caring, and here to help.
Safety Resources & Education
Community safety goes well beyond emergency response. We offer education and resources on topics that affect daily life in Granby — including how to protect yourself and your family from fraud and scams, and how to have important conversations with children about online safety and digital boundaries. Knowledge is one of the most powerful tools we can share.
Drug Disposal
Unused or expired medications — prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, and vitamins — pose real risks when left in the home. The Granby Police Department provides a secure, confidential drop box in the lobby of Town Hall where residents can safely dispose of these items year-round, at no cost and with no questions asked. Keeping medications out of the wrong hands helps protect the entire community and is better for the environment.
Respectful Flag Disposal
The American flag deserves to be retired with dignity. The Granby Police Department accepts worn, tattered, or faded flags for proper ceremonial disposal in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code. Simply bring your flag to Town Hall during business hours. We are honored to assist in this act of respect for a symbol that means so much to so many in our community.
Invite us to your event or school! We welcome opportunities to connect. Reach out to schedule a visit or community presentation. info@granbypolice.com.
