Retail Business License
Businesses having a fixed physical presence in the Town of Granby that collect sales tax must register and receive a Town of Granby Retail Business License. Since Granby is statutory, all sales tax must be remitted through the State of Colorado and require a State of Colorado sales tax license number.
- New business licenses are $25.00 per calendar year, unless opening after July 1st for a cost of $12.50
- Licenses must be renewed annually and are due in January each year for a cost of $25.00.
Temporary or Special Events
Businesses selling goods or services at temporary venues or at special events are required to obtain a yearly mobile vendor permit.
Incidental Physical Premise
If you currently hold a Colorado Retail Sales & Use Tax License and do not have physical presence or only have incidental presence, according to the State Senate Bill 022-32, you are not required to register or pay for a retail business license within the Town of Granby.
“Incidental physical presence” means that the business infrequently, and not regularly within the ordinary course of its business activities, either: 1) sends employees into the municipality to conduct certain activities including installation, assembly, and repair; 2) maintains employees on duty at a location in the municipality; or 3) engages in other activities in the municipality subjecting it to other business, fire, zoning, or other regulations of the municipality. An employee may include an agent or commissioned salesperson for purposes of determining presence.
