Granby Hires New Chief of Police

Please join us as we welcome Stephanie R. Oliver to serve as its next Chief of Police for the Granby Police Department. Oliver brings more than 20 years of progressive law enforcement leadership experience in local policing, organizational development, and community-centered public safety. She most recently served as Assistant Chief of Police for the Glynn County Police Department in Georgia, where she directed five major divisions: Uniformed Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Support Services, Professional Standards and Accountability, and Administration. Her leadership contributed to the department earning Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) state certification in 2025.

Over the course of her career, Oliver has served in nearly every major operational and investigative role within a police department, including SWAT Commander leading a 16-member Special Response Team, and as an investigative supervisor overseeing cases involving homicides, kidnappings, sexual offenses, robberies, and other serious crimes. She managed the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and internal affairs investigations, and has commanded large-scale events, natural disaster response, and countywide patrol operations.

Oliver holds a Master of Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, summa cum laude, from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She has completed the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy, GACP Chief Executive Training, Georgia POST Executive Certification, and advanced tactical and leadership training through the National Tactical Officers Association and the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

“I am deeply honored to be selected as Granby's next Chief of Police,” Oliver said. “This community's commitment to collaboration, safety, and shared responsibility is truly inspiring. I look forward to working alongside the Town's leadership, our officers, and the residents of Granby to strengthen public safety, enhance community partnerships, and ensure our department continues to serve with professionalism, integrity, and transparency. It is a privilege to join this remarkable community, and I am excited for the work ahead.”

Chief Oliver will assume command of the Granby Police Department on October 12.
