Mobile Vendor Permit - Cottage Foods

All mobile retail vendors wishing to conduct business in the Town of Granby are required to obtain a mobile vendor permit.  Permits are issued for a one-year term for a fee of $25.00. If approved, permits will be issued within five business days after receiving fees and completed application. If issued a permit, the permittee shall retain the permit in their possession when conducting business within Town and must show the permit when requested.   Applicants are required to familiarize themselves with Granby Municipal Code 5.05.

Also, all mobile vendors are required to hold a Colorado Sales Tax License with Granby, CO added as a location, or ‘site’.  Please obtain prior to applying.  

For 'cottage foods' vendors, applicants shall also provide a valid food safety training course certificate, per the state of Colorado's Cottage Foods Act requirements. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) offers 3 types of training to fulfill the requirement.  Please review the course offerings and complete at least 1 of the trainings prior to applying for a Town of Granby mobile vendor permit.

What is a 'cottage food'?

In 2012 Colorado Senate Bill 12-048, The Colorado Cottage Foods Act, was passed which allows individuals to produce, sell and store certain types of “cottage food” products in an unlicensed home kitchen that are non-potentially hazardous and that do not require refrigeration. The Colorado Cottage Foods Act allows individuals to make and sell a limited range of foods, including spices, teas, dehydrated produce, nuts, seeds, honey, jams, jellies, preserves, fruit butter, flour, and baked goods, including candies, fruit empanadas, and tortillas.  In June 2026, the "Tamale Bill", HB26-1033, was passed, and will become effective January 1, 2027.   For more information, checklists, packaging requirements and more, visit the CDPHE Cottage Foods Act page.
