Granby Trails, Fishing & Dog Park
Granby Trails is a small section of trails next to Sun Outdoors RV Resort and Smith Crossing. The trails, dog park, and section of the Colorado River are owned by the Town of Granby and are available for public use.
Fishing the Colorado River
Fishing on the Colorado River is only available via reservation with the Town. The river is broken into sections called beats (see beat map). Fishing reservations are for a specific beat, are for a specific six (6) hour window, and only allow two (2) people per beat. This management system reduces pressure on the river which in turn produces bigger fish. (Check out Colorado Parks & Wildlife's 2024 Trout Population Report - this stretch produced the highest biomass of brown trout ever recorded in Grand County!)

A Colorado fishing license and Town reservation are required. Reservations cost $25 for residents (diver's license with 80446 zip code) and $50 for non-residents. Fishing is with barbless fly or artificial lure only. No live bait, worms, or other scents permitted. Catch and release only. Fishing does close seasonally and during unsafe flows.
Dog Park
The dog park, called the Bark Park, is managed by the local non-profit Grand County Pet Pals. The park is only open during the summer and fall and closes for the winter season until the ponds melt in the spring. This is for your and your pet's safety.
The Bark Park is divided into two parks, one for larger breeds and the other for smaller breeds (under 30 pounds). Each section has access to the pond. There is also agility equipment in each park for your dog to explore. Please visit the Bark Park website for rules and regulations as well as closure information.
Trail System
The walking trails are roughly one (1) mile of ADA friendly trails consisting of varying section of concrete and packed dirt that wind around the eastern side of the property. In the winter, the trails expand via groomed trails in the meadows that allow for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing.
Conservation Easement
The Town of Granby is in the process of securing a conservation easement on the north end of the property. We hope to have trails in this area as well, though they may close seasonally to provide a quiet place for wildlife to winter and raise young.
